Mom of Three Boys: identical twins, Conor and Caden who were born May 2014, and the newest addition, Cal born July 2016. I enjoy blogging about positive, fun experiences that happen to us day to day -- whether it be working, traveling to cape cod, cooking, dining with the kids, wine tastings/pairings, or a good solid workout. Thanks for stopping by. :)
This is what I call a LIVE blog post! My mom and I are currently baking lots of desserts for tomorrow''s festivities at my Aunt Debbie's house.
On the list of baking items: Nut Rolls, Chocolate Trifle Pie, Mexican Spiced Chocolate Crinkles, and Brownie Peppermint Bark Bars. Here are some photos of us in action. Conor and Caden were big helpers licking the spoons!!! :)
Also for a fun toddler treat, I added red and green sprinkles to their every day yogurts..they loved it!
We hosted my parents for dinner last night, and opened some presents with the boys. It was real relaxing and fun. The boys loved having them over.
We also celebrated with Jim's family last weekend - we had Jim's mother's family party on Saturday afternoon/evening in Worcester and then Jim's dad's family party on Sunday afternoon/evening in NH. There were lots of cousins to play with, which made it really fun! Conor and Caden are old enough to play with toys and other kids, so it's a bit easier than last year.
TGIF! It's been a long week of sickness for the boys - again. At least it's Friday and we have smiles on our faces!!
Here we are at the doctor's office Monday night. We were counting our fingers to pass the time.
Quick sickness recap for you: The twins first got a cold around Thanksgiving. Caden got one right before and Conor got sick immediately after. Cal got sick somewhere in between and so did Jim and I. Then everyone got round two! And now we might be on round three...? I don't know. Lots of runny noses and a cough that won't quit. I ended up taking the boys to see the pediatrician on Monday night and get them checked out. Turns out they needed chest x-rays, lab work, and got nebulizers to use at home. Apparently pneumonia is going around and they were wheezing a lot while coughing. Silly Mama waited about 11 days of coughing to bring them in to be seen. Thankfully pneumonia was ruled out, but they still don't sound great.
Caden is a trooper when it comes to using the nebulizer. Conor hates it - but I have been bribing them with everything I can. Chocolate, lollipops, and any other sort of candy goes a long way! :)
Cal is a happy guy!
We have been staying in and resting a lot more than usual. We have really only gone to Early Intervention and had our Speech Pathologist visit us. Other than that, not many activities. It's been surprisingly fun. Other than the usual crankiness due to the sickness, we've been watching a lot of Christmas movies and enjoying each other's company. My maternity leave is over in a few weeks, so I'm soaking up as much C, C, and C as possible!
Also - Cal turned 5 months old on 12/12 and started daycare. Where did the time go? I felt like I had an eternity when he was born. I was like - I'm not going back to work until end of Dec/early Jan....that's so far away! Well, here I am, trying to hit the pause button and enjoying every second of being home with my boys.
This week, Cal went to daycare twice. We will continue having him go two days a week so that we have a smooth transition when I start work. Cal goes to daycare during Conor and Caden's playgroups at Early Intervention Tues and Thurs. It's nice because I can focus on C and C during their sessions and Cal is getting to know his friends at daycare. It's been very smooth so far! I will feel much more at ease when I go back to work.
We love Meryem!
Here is a pic of Conor and Caden at daycare over the summer - and Cal just the other day at the same table. :)
One of my favorite times of the day. It is usually calm, relaxing, and we can really see their personalities shine at bedtime. I love our family time at bedtime. This is how our evenings look around 7pm...
We had Jim's company Christmas party on Wednesday night. I met him in the city after work. My parents put the boys to bed (and snapped a pic of me before I left...I felt like I was going to prom). We enjoyed a nice night out. It was at the ICA in the Seaport. Beautiful venue. We were able to see the Hyatt where we got married from dinner!
Something else I've really been enjoying lately - cooking/baking and having the boys "help"! They love watching me mix and pour things in...and especially love watching me crack the eggs. I was making Christmas cookies the other day and they were really into it!
Cal helped, too!
Until he fell asleep....haha.
During decorations! Auntie Chrissy came over last night and helped me. We had limited resources, but made it work.
All for now! Here's hoping everyone feels better soon!!
I can't believe Christmas is in less than two weeks. I had my work Christmas party for families and their children this weekend...here's our family picture with Santa. Thanks, Kristin!! I love it. :)
Conor and Caden were scoping out all the presents from Santa! I think one of them even dove into the sea of presents.....
"Criss Cross, applesauce"...
Here's Alex and Cal! Huge shout out to both Alex and Kristin for helping out so much with all three boys during the party. Jim and I were able to enjoy ourselves thanks to you two! And thank you to Hope for putting the whole party together. What a fun experience for the kids. Conor and Caden loved seeing Santa (even though they didn't show it) and they love their new presents. :)
The boys were sleeping in the same bed the other night - and I thought it was the cutest thing ever. They usually either sleep in their own beds or sometimes switch beds (which confuses me terribly in the middle of the night if I check on them - it's so dark and I have no clue who is who). But the other night, they slept together and it made me so happy.
It brought me back to when they were little and they shared a crib! (June 2014)
This was bedtime the other night. They were playing with the trucks and doing the same thing. I love when they do that. It's so cute.
I have been having migraines lately - mainly from not getting enough sleep from when the kids were sick I think. So Jim let me sleep in on Sunday. When I came downstairs this is what I found. I took like 1,000 pics it was so adorable.
THEN my parents took Conor and Caden to church for a childrens mass. They were gone for a few hours, so Jim and I were able to have brunch, make a few christmas mimosas (champagne and apple cider, YUM!) and made a huge dent in our wrapping. We just had Cal - see him back there in the swing? It was so great.
We were even able to tackle a few errands with Cal - things we can't really do with three kiddos...
The result of having three kids under 2.5 - yikes.
And last but not least, Chrissy and Linds took Conor out last night for a special night of "individual time". Chrissy, Linds, and Con went over their friend Erin's house for some Christmas fun. She has a 20 month old daughter. Con made some new friends and enjoyed some special time.
Since Conor was having some fun, Jim and I took Caden and Cal out to run some errands and see Christmas lights. Cal took a nap and we were able to talk to just Caden and listen to what he had to say. I know, it sounds so simple and silly - but the twins NEVER get individualized attention like that. They always have each other to talk to and compete for attention.
Caden absolutely loved talking to mommy and daddy on his own. He was saying "goodbye lights", "goodbye santa" as we went from house to house. I don't think he ever stopped smiling. I know they need more individual time. I can tell. They will just continue to grow and their own personalities will come out more.
What a great weekend!! Look how things have changed in one year.....
Feeling grateful for these amazing boys this holiday season. They are really growing with their personalities and their speech. I am so proud of them.
