9+ Month Pregnancy Update!

I realized it's time for another pregnancy update! I haven't written one since the beginning of my third trimester here in this post. Current belly pic, car style selfie.

I have been trying to stay active, while still trying to "rest" -- which is a tough balance. I walk often during my work day and also recently started prenatal yoga. I've only gone to a couple classes but I really love it. Again, I could be stretching more, but at least I have kept up with some physical activity.

Cravings: I have a serious sweet tooth (not just pregnant - that's me in real life), so I have been eating a lot of ice cream, dark chocolate and fruit…mostly watermelon and any kind of fresh berries. I have also been eating bananas as I feel the potassium helps with swelling and leg cramps (haven't had those in a few weeks now thank goodness).

Weight gain: I am at the point where I now go to the doctor on a weekly basis. This week I go on Thursday. Last week, the doctor suggested I not gain more than 5 more lbs since I've now hit my personal limit of 25 lbs (again, I began this pregnancy up about 7 lbs from my first pregnancy, so if you count that, I'm up over 32 lbs). As of last week, they estimated that the baby weighed a little under 6 lbs. They said it's measuring a little ahead! Heart rate was 159 and baby is head down. Ready to go!
Names: We have not yet chosen a name for the baby, but we’re keeping our top options to ourselves until he or she is born. To be honest, we have the boy name pretty solidified, but the girl name does not exist yet. Not sure I like any girl names. And I have NO idea if we will go with another "C" name. TBD!
Maternity clothes: Now that I'm carrying just one baby, I am able to wear non-maternity clothes at 9 months! Isn't that unbelievable? Last pregnancy I definitely couldn't do that. I was way too big. I love that I can toss on an old flowy non-maternity dress and make it work (or so I think?? Lol).
Pregnancy Issues: Last pregnancy I struggled with some serious ankle/feet swelling. It was bad. I remember looking down at my feet and being shocked at how huge they were - my right foot especially. I was really nervous, so I asked my doctor about it. Thankfully they said it was normal, and to monitor a few things like my blood pressure to make sure we weren't headed toward any serious health issues. So far this round, my blood pressure and other things have been completely normal, so we are all good to go. I have some pains here and there (especially in the evenings) and a few Braxton hicks but again, all under control. Not feeling too bad. My hip pain has started to increase, even just in the last 24 hours. I am thinking it's related to the weight gain.
Other Symptoms: I am physically tired late in the day. I have started to shorten my work day. I also am a little clumsy like walking into doorways and things...but I still blame that stuff on having two toddlers and lack of sleep. I also just had a BAD head cold, which the boys eventually caught too. I feel like a cold just lingers when you're pregnant. Blah.
Baby Movement: This baby is ACTIVE. I constantly feel movement. Also - his/her heart rate seems high to me mainly because I think he/she is moving around so much.

Food Cravings:  See above - sweets. I am mostly hungry throughout the day, but at dinner time I either want nothing or a small bowl of cereal. And like I said before, all things fresh fruit sound amazing all day long (and ice cream). :)

Food Aversions: None anymore. Mostly citrus in the beginning-mid of my pregnancy. I still sort of avoid it.

Sleep: I usually wake up and use the bathroom about three to four times each night, but I am sleeping pretty well other than that. I count on my pregnancy pillow for good comfy sleep. When I don't have it (like in cape cod), I don't sleep as well. Room temperature makes a big difference too. I need to stay cool!

Stretch Marks: I have a few small stretch marks from before - but nothing crazy. Mostly on the center of my belly. I don't have the center numbness like before. Thank GOD.

Miss Anything? I still miss being able to sleep on my belly. And I really miss a fresh cold cocktail on a hot summer day (like during Jims bar admission ceremony). And weirdly I miss being able to bend over quickly and easily to pick things up. Everything just takes longer now.

Looking forward to: Meeting Baby C, and finding out if it's a boy or girl. I also can't wait to see Conor and Caden become big brothers. I've started buying some little toys for them - to distract them a bit when I'm busy with the baby.

ALSO: And I'm looking forward to having people over to meet the baby! Chrissy has convinced me to host a "sip and see" - basically a little party where people come over and have some wine/mimosas/cocktails and meet the baby. Adorable idea! Far more fun than a shower...because they baby will actually be there!

New Baby Items: Nothing new, but everything is done! I finally cleaned, washed, and put away all the twins baby bottles and breast pump items. I set up the breast pumps upstairs in the nursery and a second one on the main floor. I am feeling ready. Just need a third baby monitor - but we can get that anytime. Oh, and hospital bag is PACKED. Yahoo.

Recent pics of the soon-to-be big brothers! :)

And sleeping :)

Til next time....

Quality Family (Cape) Time!

To piggy back off my last post about the Cape, here are some of the other things we did over the weekend other than just spend time at the beach. Trying to squeeze in as much family time while we still have two kids. Things are surely going to change a ton in the coming weeks..

We read lots of BOOKS! Boy do we love to read (and point at everything in the book!). The Children's Room at the Hyannis Library is awesome. We didn't make it there this trip, but there are so many activities for the boys, in addition to lots of books and DVDs we can take home on a rainy day. We will for sure be visiting the Hyannis Library next week during our family vacation.

Mom's belly is a great armrest these days...

Conor and Caden love outside. It's one of their favorite things to do. Here they are hanging by their Great Grammy's side yard. The WHOLE space and this is how they play. haha. Jim's Dad just had a big pine tree taken down right here - so I am sure C and C are looking at all the wood chips and bugs. :)

Of course we made a Marylou's run!

Getting some scratchies for Papa!

I like this pic. It sums me up pretty well these days. "Mama losing control..."

Tom is recovering really well from his open heart surgery a few months back. Here we are on a walk with Gramps!

A little blurry, but here we are post bathtime. :)  I feel bad that I don't remember who got us these bath towels before the boys were born. So if you're reading this - thank you! They say "quack quack quack" when we get out of the tub now. It's wicked cute.

Caden loved hanging with the Phelan guys while they were building the shed. He almost made it to the top!

Here they are waking in Cape Cod. I think Caden looks JUST like Jim here. They look like a couple of old buds just catching up.

A little under the weather.....

Few pics prior to our departure to the Cape on Friday.

I am getting really excited for our trip starting Friday. Hopefully the kiddos feel better by then. Con has a fever today. Caden is at school. Conor is home with me.

Also, here's a current bump pic with my friend Shay from last night! She is due Sept 3! Just about a month after me. :)  I am 36.5 weeks...aka 9 months (I am a shrimp!)

AND I got new sunnies for our them!

All for now!

Cape Cod BEACH time!

Conor and Caden seriously love the beach and the sand and the ocean. They are so calm and play together really nicely. We brought them to the beach on Saturday and again on Sunday and they had a blast.

I mean, is he not having the time of his life?!

We also thought it was time to pull out their little toddler beach chairs. I love that they are covers on them - especially since they don't always keep their hats on. It's nice to give their heads a little breathing break.

Trying to see the airplanes! It's so bright!

When we brought them down to the water, they started out holding Jim's hands. They couldn't wait to run right in...especially Conor.

Then we switched. I got overwhelmed quickly lol.

On Sunday, I brought them to the beach by myself while Jim was building our new shed for the Cape house. There were only a few minor issues with kids running into the parking lot and down to the water - but considering I am the size of a whale, I think I handled it pretty gracefully. :)

Mom and Cay (little did I know that Caden was coming down with the same head cold as me at this point...)

Mom and Con (same goes for Con...lots of sneezes and bad runny nose. They were up ALL night. Poor guys).

They played so well, too!

While the boys were in bed (trying to sleep...), Jim and I enjoyed this amazing meal outside. I can't take any of the credit though. We ordered one salmon dish from the Black Cat in Hyannis, and I made the caprese salad with garden fresh veggies to go alongside the salmon. It was so fresh and delicious. It hit the spot. And I LOVE these plates from my second cousin Jessica - for my bridal shower over 6 yrs ago! I actually packed them up to bring back to my house so I can use them more.

Now we are trying to get back into the swing of things. The boys are taking a nap and then we have early intervention later. Then we get to see Shay and Kyle for dinner! :)

All for now...

Boston Common Trip

Short and sweet post...since I am home with the boys today and don't have much time to write.

I wanted to document the boys trip to Boston Common the other night. I needed to pick up Jim from Boston, so I figured I would bring the boys in since it was a beautiful night. I left worked, picked up the boys, and drove back into the city. They loved the drive, seeing some firetrucks and ambulances, and watching everyone and everything around them. When we arrived at the common, they LOVED listening to the music, while enjoying some snacks / mini picnic out on the Common. I got some great pics of them enjoying the scene.

My friend Joe got these adorable Hermosa Beach t shirts for the boys for their birthdays. It says "Future Surf Dude - Hermosa Beach, CA". I love love love them. We miss the Cali life, so these are perfect. Thank you!

Then we of course stopped at Papas another night last week. He filled up my old wagon with water so the boys were drenched. Nothing like hanging out at Grammy and Papa's house in our diapers!

And here are some summery snoozing pics. These are some of my favorite moments. Sweet, innocent, safe sleeping kiddos. Con top, Cay bottom. :)

Hope everyone has a great week! Long weekend (or vacations) ahead!! Can't wait.

SURPRISE Baby Shower for Baby C!!

If you've been following shazbythesea for a little while now, you know we are expecting a third baby sometime within the next month. My due date is the end of July, but I am getting really big - the baby is actually measuring a few days ahead. The doctor said he/she is already about 6 lbs! I can't believe I will soon have another one of these. :)

I set up this baby bookie betting pool that my friend Abby did when awaiting the arrival of her son, Tripp. your bets people! It is open until July 10th.

In preparation of Baby C, we of course put the nursery together - which is really my guest bedroom with a crib and changing table (the boys old changing table/dresser). I also gathered and washed all their old newborn to 6 month clothes, swaddles, blankets, bibs, burp cloths, pacifiers, etc. Those items have been out and ready for a while. However recently, I completed the daunting task of going through and cleaning all the twins baby bottles. I know I won't need this many, and in fact I am so looking forward to needing half the stuff I did with two babies, but needless to say, I am relieved this task is over. I also cleaned and set up both of my breast pumps - one of the main floor, and one upstairs in the nursery. I had two last time and felt it really helped.

Also, I have some of the most thoughtful friends and coworkers ever. They threw myself and my coworker Tarah a joint SURPRISE baby shower a few weeks ago. It was so shocking, I couldn't even handle it. It is not often that I am surprised, so it took a bit for me to settle. They told me we were going to a girls lunch in the North End - but instead, a bunch of ladies were gathered with pizza and drinks and gifts. It was so unbelievably thoughtful. I am so happy to have some new things for Baby C! Thank you so much -- especially to social media coworkers and friends Kristin, Fallon, Lindsey, Alex, Ashlyn, Jess, Bea, Kelli, Jen, and Milady. I am sorry if I forgot you...I know way more of you were there. THANK YOU!!!!

Feeling super blessed and grateful...and ready now more than ever! YAY!!

All for now,
